Gezi Park Protest

A wave of demonstrations and civil unrest in Turkiye began on 28 May 2013, initially to contest the urban development plan for Istanbul's Taksim Gezi Park. The protests were sparked by outrage at the violent eviction of a sit-in at the park protesting the plan. Subsequently, supporting protests and strikes took place across Turkiye. There is no centralized leadership beyond the small group that organized the original environmental protest. Social media played a key part in the protests. Three and a half million people (out of Turkey's population of 80 million) are estimated to have taken an active part in almost 5,000 demonstrations across Turkiye connected with the original Gezi Park protest. Twenty-two people were killed and more than 8,000 were injured. MTN Ground Quick Response Team managed to secure transportation and evacuation and real on time risk analyze for multinational companies’ clients because of chaos in everywhere in Turkiye. Firstly, after monitoring events, MTN activated Quick Response Team and set the operations. Afterwards, the locations of clients were determined. MTN reached out clients in risky areas. Then, clients were evacuated and relocated in safe zone.

Terror attacks in Ankara

When there were terror attacks in Ankara, such as explosion in Ankara Train Station and Güvenpark, MTN Ground Quick Response Team intervened in the events while maintaining coolness. First of all, MTN Team determined if there are any client in the area and then, started to evacuate clients from this land. Afterwards, the team took them away from the scene and located them in a safe place.

2015 Ankara attack occurred around 10:04 local time on October 10, 2015, explosion of Station, is deadliest suicide bombings of the Republic of Turkey histories. 109 people died in there.

February 2016 Ankara Bombing

February 2016 Ankara Bombing (17 February 2016)

February 2016 Ankara attack, the explosion that occurred during the passage of military service vehicles belonging to Turkish Armed Forces in the area where the General Staff, soldiers' lodgings and Turkish Land Forces Command were located in Ankara's Çankaya district on February 17, 2016. The point where the explosion occurred, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey is located 5 minutes away. A suicide bomber detonated a bomb-laden vehicle during the passage of 5 military service vehicles and killed 28 people, including civilians, and one of them died while being treated at the hospital and 61 people were injured. After MTN Ground Quick Response Team provided real on time risk analyze for multinational companies’ clients, MTN team found out if there were any clients in the area. Afterwards, MTN Team ensured secure transportation and evacuation to these clients

The March 2016 Ankara car bomb attack took place in Güvenpark, Kızılay at 18.45 on March 13, 2016, where a total of 38 people was killed, 2 of them being attacker and 125 of them were heavy injured.

Attack at Atatürk International Airport

The Atatürk Airport attack was an armed and bombed suicide attack at Atatürk Airport in Bakırköy district of İstanbul at 21.22 local time on 28 June 2016. 45 people lost their lives and 239 people were injured in there. According to Turkish officials, attackers were belonged to Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, however, no organization took responsibility for the attack. After the attack, Atatürk Airport was closed and all flights were blocked. Thus, the planes could not land in here so the planes were directed to other airports, such as Sabiha Gokcen Airport and airports in other cities. Besiktas Vodafone Attacks are two suicide bombings attacks that took place on 10 December 2016 at 22:29 local time, near Vodafone Park in Besiktas district of Istanbul and within Maçka Democracy Park.48 people died there. This place is very close to the hotel with five stars, such as Swissotel The Bosphorus, Hilton İstanbul Bosphorus, Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at The Bosphorus and so on. After the terror attack, in a minute, MTN Intelligence team set up a desk for the monitoring. After a brief situation assessment, MTN Operations started to evacuate foreign clients, staying at the hotel, fore-mentioned and then, they provided them new accommodation area.

6 February Earthquake in Turkiye

Turkiye experienced an earthquake that could be called the disaster of the century on 6th February 2023. Eleven provinces in the south and southeast of Türkiye were affected. 53,537 people died, hundreds of thousands were injured, and 35,000 buildings were destroyed. At 4:50 am MTN Operations ready to assess the situation and assist our clients who requested our help. We established MTN Emergency Operations Centers in Gaziantep and Mardin and began responding to all evacuation and emergency requests. We are grateful to all our MTN colleagues in the local area who worked tirelessly for about five days under very difficult conditions, successfully evacuating dozens of foreign nationals.
